 Many people have a hard time cleaning the lenses on their Oculus Rift. It’s scary because they’re expensive! They’re delicate! I’m going to tell you exactly how I clean mine.


I’ve been using my Rift recently and noticed that it was getting pretty dirty. So one night, after playing games for a few hours, I pulled out my toolkit and got to work.


* Put on some latex gloves. There are oils in your fingertips that can smudge the lenses when cleaning. The gloves will prevent this from happening.


* Gently blow off any dust from the lenses using pressurized air if you have it. Do not use any other type of compressed air (e.g., CO2) as it may be too powerful and cause damage to the lenses or your Rift itself.


* Take a microfiber cloth, moisten it with water (not saliva), and gently wipe the lenses down in circular motions until they are clean.


* Repeat Step 3 for both sides of each lens, making sure not to touch them with your fingers directly or let them come into contact with any other surface while cleaning them!


Wipe down the lens in circular motions; don’t press too hard because you could damage the lens or move its position relative to the headset’s sensors. You can wipe as many times as necessary; just keep folding over the dirty sections of your paper towel until it’s clean!
